From the original 1946 New York Times article:
“…there were 150 breathless moments at the daring of the young men and women of the flying trapeze, the charging, rearing and racing horses, the sparking costumes of many colors.”
I wonder if there’s anything that can still make kids this kind of happy.
Those “sparking” costumes sound dangerous. Yes I know…..

It’s funny, because I noticed that in the original text, wondering if the “l” hadn’t been left out. But apparently “sparking” is what they were going for.
