This small cardboard pouch contains three Faber-Castell pencils marking 1996 as the company’s 235th anniversary, as well as 700th anniversary of the founding of Stein:
As the imprint on the black pencil indicates, the three colors are those of the city of Stein:
The pencils are dyed black and come factory-sharpened:
I wonder how many anniversaries have been celebrated in this way. Some have been more auspicious, such as the 100th, 150th, and 250th, etc. Others have marked the in-between years, such as the 222nd, and 235th, etc. Even if it’s just an item for employees and friends I wonder if there isn’t a small commemorative item issued every year.
That would be an interesting list to research: Starting with the 100th anniversary, an inventory of each anniversary product along with a drawing or photo.
I especially like the exlamation point on the black pencil. 🙂

“exlamation” = 1. The removal of any pre-existing lameness; 2. After a period of time, re-appearing before those who have been looking for you (i.e. having been on the lam). 😉

Very nice. The Stein coat of arms features pencils!
I’d doubt there is an annual commemorative pencil, but who knows – I’ve worked for companies that regularly produced promotional products for staff and/or customers.

Notice how in the lower left, one of the crossed pencils is shorter than the others. This is clearly a sign left by the Illuminati of Bavaria; the Apocalypse is nigh!

I like the Faber-Castell print where the ferrule would be on an eraser tipped pencil…
You could start a (static) page in wordpress that links to all the anniversary blog posts.
I have the 1983 and 2005 anniversary FC pencils, I think also some more recent ones, but I think you have all of the ones I have (plus many more) otherwise I’d be happy to contribute.

Great idea(s) Matthias. Let me do a little digging first and I’ll see what I can come up with.
