One of the most frequently searched items that brings readers to this blog is ‘how to date pencils.’ Trying to date pencils is the one thing I’ve probably spent more time researching and trying to understand than any other, and the pursuit has brought both joy and frustration in equal measure. I don’t pretend to be an expert, but I thought I’d share three important lessons I’ve learned from dating the fairer ‘stift:
- Never ask a pencil how old she is;
- Even if you mean well, avoid complementing her home by saying “hey, nice rack“;
- The answer to the question “Does my eraser look big in this ferrule?” is always ‘no’.
