Wow – what a gem! Thank you for showing. I still wonder why there hasn’t been a special pencil on the occassion of Faber-Castell’s 250th anniversary in 2011 …

I have wondered about that too. Apart from the 3-pencil tin, there weren’t any actual pencils that were printed with the anniversary. There were a few sets, including some color pencil sets with the anniversary indicated on the packaging, but not the pencils themselves.

My only guess — and this is just a guess — is that the book was to serve as the main anniversary item, but it got pushed back. Add on top of that the very large celebration that took place in Germany (and other cities around the world) and maybe issuing an anniversary pencil wasn’t as high on the list of choices.

Who knows, maybe there were some items internally, but I was surprised too that there wasn’t a 250th anniversary pencil.

Your guess sounds plausible. When I think of the celebrations I get a slightly unpleasant feeling. I don’t mean to grumble but the participants of these celebrations were a private party, and as a customer who didn’t even have the chance to buy an anniversary pencil I felt ignored. I truly hope that this doesn’t represent their attitude towards their customers …

The oval logo on the pencil looks great! Thanks for showing us.
